{"id":1381,"date":"2025-06-02T07:45:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T04:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wir2030.com\/?p=1381"},"modified":"2025-05-30T18:05:33","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T15:05:33","slug":"thesis-67-totalitarianism-does-not-begin-with-chains-but-with-the-loss-of-responsibility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wir2030.com\/en\/2025\/06\/02\/thesis-67-totalitarianism-does-not-begin-with-chains-but-with-the-loss-of-responsibility\/","title":{"rendered":"Thesis 67: Totalitarianism does not begin with chains &#8211; but with the loss of responsibility."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Explanation and justification<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Totalitarian systems rarely come with uniforms, sirens or violence.<br\/>They often appear as friendly helpers &#8211; as health authorities, safety advisors, climate saviors, child protectors or digital innovation agencies.<br\/>They appeal to the good, speak of responsibility &#8211; <strong>but mean obedience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Modern totalitarianism begins where responsibility is taken away from people &#8211; supposedly for their protection.<\/strong><br\/>It begins with small prohibitions, new norms, invisible surveillance.<br\/>With forms instead of orders.<br\/>With alleged solidarity instead of open coercive force.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And it grows so quietly precisely because it disguises itself as care.<br\/>He says: <em>\u201cWe&#8217;ll take care of you.<\/em>\u201d<br\/>But means: <em>\u201cYou won&#8217;t decide anything anymore.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is lost is not just freedom &#8211; but the <strong>opportunity to mature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Only those who make decisions can learn from mistakes.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Only those who bear responsibility develop the power of judgment.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Only those who experience freedom can live true solidarity.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Only those who are allowed to err can grow.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Totalitarian systems destroy this learning space.<br\/>They make people small &#8211; by making them \u201csafe\u201d.<br\/>They prevent maturation &#8211; by thinking everything through in advance.<br\/>They break the individual &#8211; by forcing them into the collective.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is how humanity becomes control.<br\/>Community becomes lockstep.<br\/>Protection becomes incapacitation.<br\/>Ethics becomes a set of rules.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How totalitarianism really works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It does not come overnight &#8211; but <strong>gradually, insidiously, in the guise of good:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>It creates artificial or inflated crises to legitimize interventions.<\/strong><br\/>Fear becomes a currency &#8211; not a warning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>He speaks of \u201cmeasures with no alternative\u201d.<\/strong><br\/>Anyone who disagrees is not refuted &#8211; but devalued.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It divides society into \u201csolidary\u201d and \u201cdangerous\u201d.<\/strong><br\/>Critics are not seen as interlocutors, but as a risk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It takes over decisions &#8211; under the pretext of care.<\/strong><br\/>The individual becomes the object of state intervention.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It replaces personal responsibility with a belief in rules.<\/strong><br\/>What is legally permitted is suddenly considered morally right.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It shifts power to dehumanized committees.<\/strong><br\/>Decisions are no longer explained &#8211; but announced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So man <strong>does not<\/strong> lose <strong>his sovereignty through violence &#8211; but through the sweet poison of comfort.<\/strong><br\/>He does not give it away openly &#8211; but often does not even realize that it is being taken from him.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Freedom is the origin of all progress &#8211; examples from human history<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The development of mankind was never the product of a plan &#8211; but the result of courageous, free decisions:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The caveman and the fire<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:clamp(23.54px, 1.471rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 1.38), 39px);\"><strong>Imagine if there had been a state authority for fire protection in the early days.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br\/>She would have said: <em><strong>\u201cFire is dangerous. Only allowed under supervision. Violations will be punished.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><br\/>Then fire would not have become a tool of progress &#8211; but a risk.<br\/>But man <strong>became man<\/strong> because he <strong>not only discovered<\/strong> fire <strong>, but tamed<\/strong> it.<br\/>He tried it out, burned it, learned it, understood it &#8211; <strong>out of freedom, not through regulation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Agriculture and livestock farming<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Settling down was not a collective decision &#8211; but an attempt by individual groups to shape their environment.<br\/>They tested cultivation methods, kept animals, made mistakes, learned.<br\/>Without a ministry for food security. Without subsidies. <br\/><strong>The foundation of our civilization was created through individual responsibility.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Invention of writing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No king decreed writing.<br\/>It was <strong>individual thinkers, merchants, scholars<\/strong> who began to form signs.<br\/><strong>If writing had been regulated from the beginning &#8211; \u201conly allowed under religious supervision\u201d &#8211;<br\/>there would never have been free thought, no literature, no science.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reformation through Martin Luther<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Luther did not want a revolution either &#8211; but a spiritual renewal.<br\/>If there had already been a global censorship authority at the time,<br\/>the translation of the Bible into German would have been banned &#8211;<br\/>and with it the freedom of conscience of millions of people.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gutenberg and letterpress printing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gutenberg&#8217;s invention disseminated knowledge &#8211; but challenged the prevailing power structures.<br\/>A state monopoly on the reproduction of information would have prevented this.<br\/><br\/><strong>It was only because there was no \u201clicensing authority for printing presses\u201d that the Enlightenment could come about.<\/strong><br\/>This is precisely why people today want to make it more difficult to write a book, for example: Regulatory requirements, proof of climate-friendly printing. Proof of what the book is made of. <br\/><br\/><strong>A printed work is dangerous<\/strong>because it can stand the test of time. An <strong>e-book can be manipulated<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Internet and decentralized communication<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The internet <strong>did not<\/strong> begin <strong>as a state project to inform citizens<\/strong> &#8211;<br\/>but as a space for free development, networking and innovation.<br\/>It was only when states began to want to control it that it became a threat to freedom.<br\/>Today we are experiencing this: Censorship, algorithmic filters, blocking &#8211;<br\/>not out of concern for truth, but for interpretative sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is at stake: Human development itself<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People are not made to be managed by systems.<br\/>They grow in relationship, through decision, through risk.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you take all responsibility away from them &#8211; be it in matters of health, education, media consumption or life planning &#8211;<br\/><strong>you take away their very humanity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A system that regulates everything no longer needs people &#8211; only numbers, profiles and data points.<br\/>It no longer asks for conscience, but for obedience.<br\/>It doesn&#8217;t shape personalities, but formats user interfaces.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Our position<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We2030 says:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Modern totalitarianism does not begin with violence &#8211; but with relief.<br\/>It promises help &#8211; and takes life out of your hands.<br\/>It speaks of solidarity &#8211; and means uniformity.<br\/>It turns protection into a prison, provision into a shackle.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Only those who respect people as free, thinking, learning beings can create a humane society.<\/strong><br\/>It is not the perfect plan that makes us free &#8211; but the imperfect person who is allowed to develop.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s why we say:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those who want to preserve freedom must not only prevent violence &#8211;<br\/>but also <strong>see through the soft dictatorship of care.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Totalitarianism comes insidiously &#8211;<br\/>and begins there,<br\/><strong>where people stop taking responsibility &#8211; because they are told it is better this way.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But a free life begins precisely at this point:<br\/><strong>If you do it anyway.<\/strong>  When you take responsibility for yourself or your loved ones and make decisions. Even in a pandemic.
